Pure Grenada Music Festival 2017

As the sun set that lovely Saturday evening, we got ready for Pure Grenada Music Festival – Enchanting Sounds & Glorious Sights was on the agenda at Love & Soul night! (If you’d love to watch the video footage of my coverage of the festival, it’s linked at the bottom of this post) Already acclaimed as one of the best Music Festivals in the Caribbean and still in its infancy (2nd annual) the festival took place May 5th – 7th 2017 at Port Louis Lawn Grenada aka the Festival Village! Below is my take on the happenings & what were my favourites for the night.

I was lucky enough to be at Grenada’s 1st Music Festival last year (2016) & I had an amazing time. I was sure this year’s festival was going to be incredible also. As bloggers, we got the opportunity to cover the festival & I had the pleasure of covering this night with the beautiful & talented Rohanne Persaud of TheCurlyTales. I’m also lucky enough to call her a friend. Check out her pages for DIY beauty treatments, delicious recipes, exciting events & glamourous makeup tutorials. She’s amazing!

The walkway was beautiful! The flags with the sponsors’ logs & the bamboo wall gave the entryway a very village-esque vibe.

There’s always incredible art pieces to admire at the festival. This beauty was made of plastic water bottles.

North South Wines had a tent set up close to the village entrance including a very exclusive area for their VIP customers. They had a great selection of fine wines. Their set up was beautiful.

We headed over to the main bar to snag some gin & tonic before the performances began & the village started to fill up. In order to reduce the amount of plastic used for the festival, you were sold a reusable plastic cup that you would hold onto for the night and refill whenever you would purchase a drink. These were super cool & changed from clear to blue when a cold drink was poured into it. Little details matter.

The lineup for the night was: Soul Deep, A#keem (special appearance: Tammy Baldeo), Lion Paw & D-Unit Band, Cody ChesnuTT, Malika Tirolien & Tarrus Riley.

Artistes shown below in order: A#keem, A#keem & Tammy Baldeo, Malika Tirolien, Lion Paw & Tarrus Riley

The artistes were all incredible!!! Everyone brought a different style & so much SOUL to their performances. Even though I didn’t know many of the songs they sang, I was very impressed! The atmosphere was exciting & the audience was bursting with energy.

Having fun at a concert relies on great friends, hugs, smiles, lots of laughs, fully stocked bars & great food! There were so many choices for food in the village but my favourite is always Yolo Sushi. If you love sushi, I highly recommend them. Their menu offerings at events are usually limited & you get a smaller portion (for a fraction of the regular price) but every bite is delicious. It’s the same quality that you would get served at the restaurant. Check them out!

Spicy tuna topped with seaweed salad! A favourite.

It was a long night, so I had a 2nd helping 🙂 Salmon Maki. Delicious!

Carib tent & Westerhall Rums tent. The bar service flowed smoothly & there was never a long wait for a drink. The servers were constantly smiling. Kudos to them for an excellent job done.

It was such a memorable night! I highly recommend you put Pure Grenada Music Festival on your bucket list. It’s a great excuse to visit Grenada on a whole if you’ve never been here with us before. Every year, the festival gets bigger, better & more epic. We can’t wait to welcome you next year! 🙂

Take a look at my video footage of the night linked below!

Love & light x
